Public Meeting on DVP for Foster Way

Williams Lake Council Chambers

Last night, in WL Council Chambers from 6-7:30pm with Geoff Goodall (City's GM of Planning and Operations), City Councillor Sue Zacharias, 3 Foster Way Residents, Luigi Mandarino of Westridge Ventures Ltd and his engineer from TRUE Consulting and myself present - a discussion took place with regard to a future Development Variance Permit (DVP) Application for certain properties on Foster Way. A previous DVP application for the same area on Foster Way was denied by WL City Council on May 3rd of this year after 5 residents raised objections to the DVP Application.

Concerns raised at this meeting included traffic safety concerns and aesthetics on Foster Way, if a DVP for this neighbourhood were to be approved by WL City Council

The next step will be for Mr. Mandarino to consider what was discussed last night and decide if he still wants to proceed with a DVP application for this neighbourhood (Foster Way).  If he does, the process would be:

1) Apply to the City for a DVP
2) City Staff prepares a report for Council on the DVP Application
3) Council refers DVP Application to the City's Advisory Planning Commission for review and recommendation(s)
4) Council holds a "Public Input Session" on the DVP Application
5) Council either approves or rejects the DVP Application - based on input from City Staff, City's APC and the general public

Finally - I again applaud the City for holding this meeting and trying to understand the public's concerns before going into another DVP approval process for Foster Way

Luigis proposal has to do with simple poor and greedy planning on his behalf. If he would have engineered it properly for the whole subdivison and hadnt gotten greedy this never would have happened.

His proposal would destroy the neighborhood and ruin the esthetics along with sight lines and im totally opposed and so is the rest of foster that wasnt invited due to the 100 meter radius. I do not support Luigis cash grab and i would hope council and the mayor would do the right thing and make luigi stick to the neighborhood plan.
